Volcanic ash cloud forces delays to the Europeans
The European Gymnastic Championships have been forced to delay the opening of the event for 24 hours as they await the arrival of gymnasts from all over Europe.
The cloud has bought chaos to transport throughout Northern Europe leaving travellers stranded and unable to get home.
An official statement from the organisers of the Europeans explained,
“The UEG has made the decision today to delay the start of the men’s competition by one day to ensure that all participating teams and officials have the appropriate time to adjust their existing travel arrangements to arrive in Birmingham in time for appropriate general and podium training before competition.”
