Inspired by London hosting the 2012 Olympic Games, Charlie Crossley Cooke, Managing Director of Opus Energy, wanted to ‘do his bit’ and support a local, Olympic training athlete. The power providers' search for a talented and ambitious athlete that demonstrated potential within their sporting discipline uncovered Daniel Keatings, who specialises in all disciplines of Artistic Gymnastics. Opus Energy has sponsored him since 2009.

Charlie Crossley Cooke commented during an interview with Daniel Keatings that Opus Energy chose to sponsor him as: “We were keen to support a local athlete’s Olympic dream. As Daniel is based in Northampton, close to Opus Energy’s Northampton base, he seemed like the obvious choice.”

Charlie Crossley Cooke continued: “Despite a disappointing summer for Dan in 2012, Opus Energy chose to renew its sponsorship as we are keen for him to keep on succeeding. We’re hopeful that over the next few years he can continue making his career a success, whilst working towards his goals.”

Opus Energy was founded in 2002 and is a leading independent supplier of gas and electricity to companies within the UK. The organisation provides a high standard of customer care as well as a competitive supply of power.

There are a number of features offered by Opus Energy to its customers, which include:

Fixed price energy

Most of Opus Energy’s customers are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). With fluctuations in the energy market, big energy bills can pose a problem for a small company. But with Opus Energy, small businesses are given the opportunity to guard against a steep rise in energy prices by choosing a fixed-rate energy package. This gives its customers – particularly SMEs – peace of mind with their gas and electricity bills, allowing them to get on with running their businesses.

Smart meters

All Opus Energy customers are given the option of having smart meters installed on their premises. This puts an end to estimates and uncertainty, as it gives a precise reading and allows power usage to be monitored in real time. It enables Opus Energy’s business customers to plan for their energy usage, and makes sure that customers only pay for what they use. By doing this, customers are able to budget more effectively in order to reduce their business costs. Smart meters are monitored remotely, which means Opus Energy won’t have to make an appointment to come and take a reading.

Customer service

Customer service and support is at the heart of Opus Energy’s business. For this reason, all Opus Energy customers – whether they are larger corporate or small businesses – receive a high standard of customer care.

As a matter of policy, Opus Energy aims to answer every customer call within thirty seconds, which means customers don’t have to spend a long time waiting in a queue or on hold. All Opus Energy call centres are based in the UK rather than abroad. This means customers speak to a member of the team who understands their concerns and speaks good English. Opus Energy staff are highly trained and knowledgeable of the business and are well equipped to deal with any inquiry, no matter how large or small.
